The Molly Marie Angel Fund
The Molly Marie Angel Fund was started four years ago when a dog named Molly came into the hospital with a tumor in her spine. As a result, walking for Molly was very uncomfortable and eventually altogether impossible. At only 8 years old, the hospital just couldn’t see this little dog get put to sleep without trying to help her first, but the equipment she needed required thousands of dollars at a specialty hospital. Molly’s owners could not financially afford to treat her at that level, so we started a small fundraiser at Brick Town Veterinary Hospital to try to raise money to cover the costs for her treatment. Unfortunately, the surgery to remove the tumor, followed by radiation treatment, only brought Molly four good months of happy living—but it was four months longer than she would have had without any help.
So many times we see animals come into the hospital that need a second chance, and the owners just simply cannot afford to give it to them. These conditions and services often include trauma and injuries ranging from pets being hit by cars to exploratory surgeries and diagnostic blood work needed to diagnose kidney, liver, or thyroid disease.
In too many instances, we have seen animals put to sleep solely due to the owners’ inability to pay for diagnostics. So, in Molly’s honor, we continue the Molly Marie Angel Fund to help those in need who cannot afford the veterinary care that could potentially save their companion’s life. We have helped quite a few animals in the last few years, many that are now leading happy, healthy lives—and to us, that’s all that matters.
